We are a small operation based out of the Pacific Northwest that has built many Undergrounds in the past 20 years. None of the UG’s that have been built have ever leaked water even with receiving more rain then anywhere else in the USA. We took a break over the years but with how the world is, we figured, why not share this with people who might be interested.
These are some of the nicest & strongest Undergrounds we’ve found over the years and nobody builds them quite like us due to our experience which has given us more wisdom then money can buy!
We sincerely look forward to assisting you with your project! Here are a few questions to ask yourself before contacting us!
What is your budget? We ask this straight up, because we want to work with you, a lot of people think they’ll be able to build a massive underground for $100,000, that isn’t true at all.
We can assist you to build a smaller 12x20FT storm shelter if you’re in a Tornado or Hurricane Zone that will be much more comfortable and DIY for construction minded people. A lot will be dependent on depth of your water table especially closer to large bodies of water.
There are dozens of factors that could increase the cost of structure from $100k to 350k+ depending on your soil type, how deep a well for water would need to be drilled, if you desire solar, or bring power to the site, the structure size (Quonset or Hobbit Tunnel Style), how far you are from a concrete plant, and additional endless variables that could drastically decrease or increase construction.
Have you already purchased land? Does your land have power, water, and a road for a large 30-50ft trailer to access for excavation?
How large of structure do you desire to build? We have a large list of questions to be answered and you will find a multiple choice or question option on our Contact Us Page. Hobbit Tunnel Design
We will be providing different building designs for a 12ft×40ft+ ~ 16×40+ ~ 24×40 ~ and the largest width would be 30×40+. The length of the tunnel is as long as you desire. This is only for the newest Hobbit Tunnel Design.

Quonset Hut Design
The Quonset Hut Design requires a lot more labor to construct, the structure/form is cannot be a specific color on the inside. The Quonset Hut acts as a form for our concrete system and this form costs approxiamently double cost of the Hobbit Tunnel Design form.

Underground Hobbit Tunnel Shelters
Our newest and original design of our underground shelter design.
A design that is more cost effective, labor saving, and one of the easiest processes that any contractor with home building experience, could achieve with our guidance.
What we’ve created is an alternative ahead of prefab steel drop in boxes. That give you much more room and comfort for considerably less cost.We at Viking Shelters encourage our customers to be their own contractors and follow all of our step-by-step videos, and all of our content to make it easy and understandable to do it yourself.
We will also advise those who desire to not do this themselves. We can be a part of the whole process, including securing local contractors in your area and consultation through every step directly from Viking Shelters master builders.

Underground Quonset Hut Shelters
We built a handful of Quonset Hut Underground Shelters before 2012 or so. Due to the massive increase in cost of Quonset Hut Structures, we decided to design a new structure without the massive expensive of a Quonset Hut. Remembering essentially this is just a Form. Neither one design is structural. It is just a form for the spray foam and the Shotcreete mixed with Helix Steel Jay or rebar. These ladder steps are what the strength of the structure is all about. However, we give you the option to have a Quonset hut inside or our specific design Viking shelter design.
The main advantage of choosing the Viking Shelters design really comes down to cost and ease of erection. The Viking Shelters design is about half the physical cost of a Quonset hut, design for the body and form itself.
